Product Review: Dipgrips (Do Dips at Home!)
Loyal members of the Jerd-Herd already know that I am a firm believer in the fact that you can accomplish super-heroic workouts in the comfort of your home, without having to spend a ton of cash.
And this product just cements that belief!
Dipgrips by Enigma Edge Designs
If you would have asked me last week what was the one exercise I wish I could do at home, but couldn’t, I would have said “dips” without a moments hesitation.
But no more!
Finally there is a simple, and space-conscious, solution that let’s me do my favorite upper body exercise in the privacy of my own home.
Yes, chair dips are always an option (in fact, they are a key exercise in the Nerd-Core Fitness 102 program) but they only target your tricep muscles. Utilizing proper form and dip bars though, you can turn this into a compound exercise and target not only your arms (triceps brachii), but also your chest (pectoralis major & minor) and shoulders (anterior deltoids)!
I have always lamented the fact that in order to bang out a few sets of dips I would either need to go to the gym or purchase a bulky, and expensive, dip station. But now I can do dips at home whenever I want.
It’s only been a week, but I already can’t imagine my home workouts without my Dipgrips!
Over the years I have owned a lot of home fitness equipment, and the first thing I place judgement on is quality.
While simple in it’s design, the materials are high quality and everything fits as it should.
It took under ten minutes (all I needed was a measuring tape and a drill) to install, and while I wish that I didn’t have to permanently affix the brackets to the door frame (one of the primary reasons I endorse the Pro-Grade Pull-Up Bar by Beachbody) I can’t figure out any other way that they could have designed it.
I was a little skeptical at first that they would feel stable, but they didn’t wiggle at all when I hopped on them. They lock into place perfectly and I have no worries that they will easily stand up to regular upper body workouts without any issue (I even had one of my “larger” friends hop on to make sure that there weren’t any problems with more than my 160lbs dangling from it… there weren’t.)
The other thing nice thing about Dipgrips is that you can install the brackets at a height that suits your workout needs.
- Just starting out? You can install them closer to the ground for “assisted dips,” using your feet to give you a little nudge up.
- Feeling strong already? Then attach them to the door frame at the recommended height and start cranking out the reps!
What I don’t understand is why didn’t someone come up with this sooner?!?
Doing dips at home is such fantastic thing! (Can you tell how excited I am?)
Pros:
- High quality materials
- Installs quickly
- Takes up almost no room
- Can be set to different heights for different workout needs
Cons:
- Not the most inexpensive piece of equipment at $69.99
- Requires affixing brackets to your door frame
While I don’t have a defined grading scale, I would give Dipgrips by Enigma Edge Designs the official “Jerd Stamp of Approval” (it’s a thing, I swear), and I can’t recommend it enough!
So click the link above (or right here if you’re really lazy) and order yourself a set! I guarantee you won’t be disappointed with the product, or the way your chest and arms look after adding a healthy dose of dips to your home workout routine.

Thanks for writing up a review on these dip grips as I’m in the process of expanding my home gym equipment! I’ve been running a great deal lately, and strains and pains have shown me that I need to balance my workout routine with strength training. So these dip grips are a must have in my books!
